Thailand - Finland - Air Services Agreement


The Finland - Thailand Air Services Agreement was signed in 1985 (amendments were agreed in
1996, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005). The agreement as amended is in force, with the exception
of the amendments agreed in 2001 (aviation security) as well as in 2003 and 2005 (new Route
Schedule). The amendments agreed to the Route Schedule in 2005 are applied provisionally.

Designation principles

Dual designation. A designation may be refused if one Party is not satisfied that substantial ownership and effective control of a designated airline are vested in the Party designating the airline or in its nationals. Finland has proposed amendments to designation clause in order to reconcile it with EC legislation.

Traffic rights for designated airlines of Finland

Route possibilities: Helsinki and two (2) other points in Finland - Two (2) intermediate points - Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket - Hong Kong and two (2) additional points beyond. However, aeronautical authorities have initially agreed upon a new Route Schedule which is applied provisionally and which increases the number of routes available.

Fifth freedom rights may be exercised only to the extent this is specifically agreed between the aeronautical authorities.

Capacity regime

Bermuda principles. Capacity to be provided shall be agreed between the aeronautical authorities.

Tariff regime

Double approval.
