Japan - Finland - Air Services Agreement


The Finland - Japan Air Services Agreement was signed in 1980 (amended 1991, 1993, 1996, 1999).
The agreement is in force, including some of the amendments. Those amendments which have not yet
been confirmed by an exchange of diplomatic notes are all applied in practice. All amendments to the agreement relate to the Route Schedule.

Designation principles

Multiple designation. A designation may be refused if one Party is not satisfied that substantial ownership and effective control of a designated airline are vested in the Party designating the airline or in its nationals.

Traffic rights for the designated airlines of Finland

Route possibilities:
a) Points in Finland- points in Alaska - Tokyo.
b) Points in Finland - Moscow - one point in Asia - Tokyo - Osaka.
Note: On route b), Osaka shall not be served on the same flight with Tokyo, while the point in Asia may be served only for code sharing and/or similar arrangements. Fifth freedom rights at the intermediate point(s) are granted. Un-used traffic rights are presently not available.

Capacity regime

Bermuda principles. Capacity to be provided shall be agreed between the aeronautical authorities.

Tariff regime

Double approval.
